Okay, about 2 pm my time a brown moth showed up at my front door (which is open but there is a screen door that is shut). The moth seemed like it was flying into the screen trying to get into the house. Eventually I got up and told it to go away, it left but came right back again. It is over an hour later and it is still there. I went from telling it to leave to asking it what it is doing here, but I am not sure what I think it means. I looked it up online and found several different things but the one that resonates with me is that it is some kind of message, and next I should get a letter or something. On the other hand, it could be nothing at all, if this same thing had happened at night, I would think nothing of it, but in the middle of the day, and the way it keeps trying to come in, and it has been there close to 90 minutes now, I had to let my cat out the back so it could not come in.
I don't think it can be a butterfly, it is too small and not colorful, just brown, (traditional brown, not a dark or light brown).
What do you think? Does it mean anything? |

| So I tried going out (my back door) and walked to the front (where the moth is). I have a cement stoop with a roof over it that is about 5 feet long and I stood by the end of that and just watched the moth (who is still trying and trying to get through my screen door, it just won't give up) then a wasp showed up so I left. |

The moth stopped trying to get into my house so after a few minutes I walked out the front door and was standing there looking around to see it if was really gone, the next thing I know it flew right up to me and around my head in a circle (and this moth was fast, I kept wanting it to land so I could get a better look, but it never did and if flies really fast), then it took off. I sat in one of the chairs I have in front for a few minutes but I didn't see it anymore, I thought it was gone but I just saw it flying outside my office window.
This is very bizarre. I have seen lots of times where moths try to get in your house at night because they are attracted to the light, but it is daytime, and I don't have any lights on, and the thing that made me notice it in the first place was it seemed so intent on getting through my front door, and it tried for a very long time (you would think it would give up). I had my television on but that doesn't face towards the door so I don't see why it would make any difference.
If nothing else, that must be one confused moth. |

So the cat came and laid on the front stoop (one of his favorite places) and the moth left. Then the cat wanted to come in, I let him in, next thing I know the moth is back again. One thing for sure, this moth is no quitter. |

do you have air conditioning?
Moths loathe dry cool air. Odd, trying so hard to get in the house.
MOTH
The Moth is a totem of ideas, intuition and sensitivity. The wings, bodies, and legs of the moth are covered with numerous touch hairs and is highly sensitive to vibrations. They can feel, smell, taste and determine temperatures with their feathery antennae and have the ability to perceive everything with clarity. Moth people usually have strong psychic and healing abilities. They must be careful not to pick up other peoples problems and carry them around in their own energy field. If this happens confusion and irritability can set in. The process of metamorphosis is part of the magic the moth holds. The egg stage symbolizes the birth of an idea. The larvae stage indicates the laying of a foundation. The chrysalis stage represents the process of creating, and the winged stage allows it to take flight and explore new territory. When the moth appears in our life it is a message about sensitivity or insensitivity to those around you.

We have central AC but I didn't have it on yesterday, it was cool out so I had the door open. Moth stayed until about 5:30 pm when it started pouring.
My husband and son both thought the moth behavior was odd too.
Today it is really hot and humid so I have the AC on and the doors shut. |

| Yesterday I had the central AC on all day as it was really hot, but today it is raining and cooler so we have the front door open, and our friend the moth (at least it looks like exactly the same moth) is still there trying to get in. It may have been there yesterday, since I had the door shut all day and only went in the back yard except when I bought the mail in which was late afternoon, I can't be sure it ever really left. It is still trying to get into our house. It is one determined moth, that is for sure. |

| We have a welcome mat outside and carpet inside, but none of it is wool. |
